Dear Humanities Kids,

We completed the following today in class:

1. We reviewed Journal #1 entitled "What is Art. What is beauty?" The review took place by discussing your homework assignment entitled"What is Art?" Now that you have annotated and notated your reading assignment it is valuable to return to the images you commented on concerning Journal #1. Do you have a different perspective now that you have read "What is Art?"

You may not agree with this individual's choice to pierce her face, but
she is clearly content and happy with her appearance. So why make a judgement?

Once we had discussed the images shown to you last class period, I shared a story called "The Elephant and the Blind Men." If you missed class, you can easily locate the story on-line. The story is relevant to accepting and appreciating all cultures, art forms and people.

3. Finally, I share two DVD segments with the class. One is entitled "S and M" (Symphony and Metallica), and the other segment is from a Oprah entitled "Carmen." My purpose in sharing them with you, is that you may not care for Metallica or Opera, but the fact that other people find pleasure in such art means that you need to venerate it.

HOMEWORK:
1. NO HOMEWORK! Come to the Senior Picnic tomorrow evening! Please don't miss class on Wed.

Cheers,
Crampton
